Tata Nexon EV sales close on 3,000 mark

The Tata Nexon EV, which is currently India’s best-selling electric passenger vehicle and celebrating its one-year anniversary today, is approaching the 3,000-unit sales milestone. Launched on January 28, 2020, the eco-friendly compact SUV has seen rapid consumer acceptance.

  • Nexon EV sales crossed the 2,500 mark at the end of December 2020
  • Tata claims a 64 percent market share in the EV segment

Sales of the Nexon EV had crossed the 1,000 mark on August 18 – seven months after rollout – and crossed the 2,000-unit sales mark in 10 months on December 2, 2020. Nexon EV sales are now racing towards 3,000-unit sales.

Tata Altroz sales cross 50,000 milestone in a year

At the launch of the Tata Altroz iTurbo, the carmaker announced that it has sold over 50,000 units of its premium hatchback. The Altroz has now been on sale for exactly one year – Tata had introduced the rival to the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Volkswagen Polo on January 22, 2020.

Shailesh Chandra of Tata Motors says

Tata has gained the first-move advantage when it comes to the electric vehicles in India. The manufacturer has already become the biggest EV seller in India with the Nexon EV. Tata Motors plans to electrify more cars in their range including the upcoming HBX.

According to Autocar Professional‘s interview with Shailesh Chandra, President – PVBU, Tata Motors, all the cars in the Tata’s passenger vehicle portfolio are candidates in the future.
